Legal Paternity Test Procedures

To start your legal paternity test, simply fill out our online order form or call 1-800-281-2928. Our paternity consultants will take the information you provide and ensure that we process your case according to your needs. Upon partial payment of $100 (deducted from your final test fee), we will schedule sample appointments for the child, alleged father, and mother. We have the flexibility to schedule separate appointments for the tested parties, even in different states, if necessary.

Sample Collection
DNA samples are taken using the painless and non-invasive buccal swab. The sample collector rubs a cotton-like swab against the inside cheek to collect loose cheek cells. These cells contain the DNA needed for paternity testing.

DNA Test
The samples are sent to our DNA laboratory, where they are tested using at least 16 DNA markers—specific segments in the DNA that are used to create a unique genetic profile for each individual. The profiles of the child, mother, and alleged father are compared to determine if the child has inherited DNA from the alleged father. The test results will show a probability of paternity based on whether or not all the child’s markers match those of the father and mother. Our laboratory often achieves a 99.999% probability for inclusions (when the alleged father is considered the biological father) and always a 100% exclusion (the alleged father is not the biological father).
